Story

Zoe is aged 2 from Guildford. She was born at 28 weeks and given a dire prognosis. She came home at 3 months old on end of life care. She is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, dystonia and a visual impairment. We were told she only has 2% of her brain, enough to have seizures and uncontrolled movements only. However, despite her diagnosis’s and prognosis, Zoe has more than proved her place in this world and is absolutely thriving. She is such a happy girl and has so much determination, a real zest for life and a ‘can do’ attitude. Zoe is communicating with an auditory scanning book, taking steps in her walker and has a love for learning.

Zoe currently attends conductive education which she enjoys so much and we attribute so much of her physical progress to these sessions. She has achieved so much in these sessions but after recently doing an intensive swimming and physiotherapy week, and seeing the incredible progress she made in just 5 days, we would love to give her further opportunities to access intensive therapies so she can continue to thrive and become as independent as possible. She is so proud of her achievements and we are too!

Funds raised would also go towards equipment for Zoe that she would really benefit from and isn’t available on the NHS. Last summer we were lucky enough to get her an adaptive trike and the joy on her face seeing her access an activity that is a right of passage for every child was heart warming. We would like to use these funds towards head switches to enable Zoe’s communication to be audible, a supportive comfy chair so that Zoe can relax outside of restrictive equipment, but still have the needed postural support, and a vibration plate as this has shown so beneficial to Zoe’s muscle strength and her ability to engage them.

Zoe is such a strong, cheeky, driven, curious and adventurous kid and Just4Children would be so incredibly grateful for your support in helping her to thrive!
