Riding 50 miles for The Royal National College for the Blind, a cause close to my heart, supporting young people with visual impairments to gain independence and build their futures. - Hereford 50! ride coordinator, Robin.
Story
On Sunday 24th May, a group of us will be taking on a 50-mile sponsored cycle ride to raise funds for The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC).
This is a cause very close to my heart. My late father, Gordon, lost his sight during the Second World War and later attended RNC, where he gained the skills, confidence, and education to rebuild his life. Today, the College continues that same life-changing work, supporting over 100 young people with visual impairments to develop independence, access education, and move into employment.
Our ride will follow a circular route, starting and finishing at the College in Hereford. It builds on a previous challenge in 2019, when a group of us cycled from Southampton to Hereford in support of RNC.
Every pound raised will go towards enhancing opportunities for students - from specialist equipment and accessible learning resources to sports, independence training, and life-enriching experiences beyond the classroom.
If you’re able to support us, we would be hugely grateful for any donation, big or small.
And if you’re tempted to join us on the ride itself, you’d be very welcome - just get in touch!
Thank you so much for your support.
