Angel came to us heavily pregnant, and gave birth straight after admission. Angel had bred with her brother.
All four kittens have serious issues that require veterinary treatment.
Malek has a grade 1/2 heart murmur, and a large hernia.
Dara has a small hernia requiring repair.
Angelo has an enormous protruding hernia that requires repair as soon as he is big enough to manage the surgery.
The most severely unwell is Gabriel who has a small hernia, and a heart murmur that is a Grade 4. A few weeks ago, this was only a grade one, suggesting that his heart is worsening. It's predicted that this is likely something congenital, such as a defect that he has been born with, and he requires specialist cardiologist intervention from Leahurst Hospital. The referral and heart scan will likely cost around £800 with charitable discount.
The cost for us to neuter, repair hernias, investigate Malek's heart and vaccinate for all four kittens is around £2200.
While the hernia repairs are hopefully a complete fix, we do not yet know the prognosis for the kittens with heart murmurs, and will have more information once they have had their hearts scanned.
This means that this one litter of kittens will cost around £3000 at the least to treat and diagnose, and this is absolutely crippling. This doesn't include the costs to neuter Mum, which thankfully has already been done and she's leaving for her forever home very soon.
We are so grateful for any donations towards their vet care.
