Story
I set up Hidden Needs Trust in Sept 2014 to raise awareness of the vital work that the Opportunity Groups in Dorset and Somerset provide. These groups support pre-school children with special needs and their families in a safe and stimulating environment. Alongside raising awareness of the groups I have spent the last three years fundraising for them through the Hidden Needs Trust, including an annual personal sponsored challenge.
2015: Despite breaking my neck 12 weeks earlier I ran 7 marathons in 7 days, then in
2016: I took on 27 marathons in 26 days.
2017: I ran 65 miles in 12 hours finishing at the Sherborne Summer Festival. An invitation to the Queens Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in 2017 was a wonderful surprise, what an honour and privilege to be invited as Hidden Needs Trust.
2018, I competed against para-athlete Ebony Court in a sports wheelchair marathon, completing the challenge in 43 minutes 40 seconds. Ebony attended Yeovil Opportunity Group as a child, and through their early support went on to compete as a sprint wheelchair athlete, thrower and tennis player. HNT wheelchair sponsored by Simply Advice (www.simplyadvice.co.uk )
2019: This years physical challenge has yet to be finalised but will certainly be my biggest challenge to date.
I welcome fundraisers who are willing to arrange their own challenges, or who can organise fundraising events/activities in their local area for Hidden Needs Trust.
Please contact to share your ideas and to add your own challenge on to the Hidden Needs Trust JustGiving page.
