Story

2020 has been a challenging year for all of us. We are so proud of the way that our students, parents, staff, and alumni have rallied to support important causes during the COVID-19 pandemic, both locally and nationally. It reinforces how lucky we are to be a part of the ACS International Schools community and how enduring your generosity is.

Without a doubt, that generous spirit is going to prove crucial in the coming months.

In these uncertain times we have learned that dramatic change doesn't just happen to other people. It can happen to any of us. It can happen fast. And the results can be devastating.

Many of our families her at ACS Hillingdon have experienced unexpected and sudden financial hardship in the wake of COVID-19, lockdown and all that came with it from serious illness to loss of employment. Without support, many will have no option but to withdraw their children from our school. Thats why, as well as doubling our own investment in this area, we are launching a special Hardship Appeal and asking if you might make a contribution to support our own school community.

This hardship fund will allow us to make more awards and to bridge more families over their immediate crisis point. Will you help us start building these bridges, with a gift today? Any amount - whether £50 or £500 will make a difference. And if you are in a position to give even more, that would be wonderful.

Hardship awards are strictly means-tested and will be made on a case-by-case basis with families of our High School students prioritised, as this stage is so important to future education and career opportunities. In most cases, we anticipate covering or contributing to one semester of school fees only, allowing each family the breathing space they need to put alternative plans in place.

As you know, ACS Hillingdon is a fantastic environment in which to learn. And the atmosphere we create together as a mutually supportive community is part of what makes it so inspiring.

With your help, we can provide reassurance and security to families facing hardship; we can ensure that every student has the chance to complete their education; and we can set a fantastic example of what compassionate and committed people can achieve together.

All this is possible with your help, so please give now if you would like to make a meaningful difference to children and their families here at ACS Hillingdon.

Now, more than ever, we would really appreciate your support.

With sincere thanks,

Martin Hall, Hillingdon Head of School

When ACS International Schools started in 1967, so did our commitment to provide high quality international education and to positively impact the communities we serve. Over 50 years on, while trends in education come and go, our founding principles remain. They’re at the heart of everything we do. In 2018, we became a UK-registered charity and ACS International Schools In America Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation, was established in the US. ACS has already invested over £1m in means-tested bursary places, providing opportunities for students to benefit from an ACS education and, in turn, enriching our community. In our next 2020-21 academic year, over 40 students will benefit from bursary places. In addition to the significant sums we already commit, we also invest in campus facilities to enhance our students’ learning and support for teaching excellence.
