Hayling Island Sailing Training Trust
The Hayling Island Sailing Trust (HISTT) is a charitable trust dedicated to supporting and strengthening the future of sailing and water-based activities through participation. Guided by clear charitable aims, HISTT works to ensure that sailing remains accessible, inclusive, and enriching for everyone in the community. Our purpose is threefold:
• To promote the education, training and development of young people and disabled individuals—whether physically or mentally—through sailing, water sports, and related activities.
• To provide access to sailing and water sports for the wider public, at all levels of ability, in ways that enhance wellbeing and improve quality of life.
• To support the community by helping to repair and preserve the sea defences at Sandy Point, ensuring the long-term protection of this unique coastal environment.
HISTT supports a range of unique and impactful initiatives at HISC. One of the most valued is the Thursday Club, a community sailing programme that gives disadvantaged young people the opportunity to get on the water, build confidence, learn new skills, and experience the joy of sailing in a supportive environment. The Trust also helps provide opportunities for disabled sailors, ensuring that adaptive equipment, trained volunteers, and accessible facilities are available so that everyone can participate fully and safely.
In addition, HISTT raises essential funds for Hayling Rescue, the volunteer safety that plays a vital role in keeping sailors, wingers, windsurfers, and all water users safe throughout Chichester
