We are a Hertfordshire based charity who support adults, children and young people who are experiencing mental health issues. We are a local mind, affiliated to national Mind. Being an independent charity, we are responsible for raising our own funds through contracts, fundraising and grants.

Story

This year Hertfordshire Mind Network celebrates our 50th anniversary and we have launched our 50th Anniversary Fundraising Appeal with the aim of raising £5,050 to help us be here for Hertfordshire residents for the next 50 years and beyond.

Hemel Hempstead, 1970

A local primary school head teacher along with a couple of colleagues set up a local branch of Mind with a view to helping local people and their families as they believed day services for people with mental ill-health in the area were not so much scarce as non-existent. A weekly support group commenced which proved popular and 30 people attended every week.

Hertfordshire, 2020

Fast forward 50 years and we now have 7 Wellbeing Centres across the county providing a diverse range of services and support to our clients. In 2019 we supported over 5,500 Hertfordshire residents through Counselling, Peer Support, Crisis Services, Young Peoples services and more.

The recent pandemic has seen big changes to the way that we provide our support. We are very proud to say that despite the challenges that we faced, we have adapted and continued delivering our services to ensure that we can be there for anyone who needs us during this difficult time.

We are excited to be celebrating our 50th anniversary this year, however, in this current financial climate our funding is being put under enormous pressure at a time when we are seeing increased demand for our services due to the impact of COVID-19 on mental health. This fundraising appeal will help us continue to ensure everyone in Hertfordshire experiencing mental ill-health will get the support and respect they deserve.

Whether you take on a challenge, get creative or simply make a donation we appreciate your support.

How we spend donations

As a local, independent charity every pound will go to support Hertfordshire residents with their mental health.

£5 could pay for: refreshments for one of our Crisis Cafés

£25 could pay for: a well-stocked food cupboard for people using our Nightlight Service

£50 could pay for two peer support sessions

£60 could pay for: a mental health awareness assembly at a local school

£100 could pay for: 5 counselling sessions for someone experiencing financial hardship

£500 5 targeted workshops for young people in secondary schools. These would reach up to 75 young people.

Thank you for your support.
