Hobby the Horse is a fun and educational programme for schools where children design and make their own Hobby Horse using recycled materials. Schools then host a fundraising event for which children seek sponsorship to raise funds for Ride High.

Ride High supports vulnerable and disadvantaged young people struggling with issues such as poverty, neglect and abuse, and poor mental health. Children follow a programme which includes learning to ride and care for horses and associated clubroom projects that boosts their wellbeing.

Hobby the Horse is a fun and educational programme for schools created by children’s charity Ride High. Children in participating schools will design and make their own Hobby Horse using recycled materials. Schools will their host a fundraising event of their choosing where children will seek sponsorship for taking part with their hobby horses and earn themselves a rosette.

Designed to complement the Key Stage 1 Curriculum, the programme will be incorporated into various lessons to support key areas of children’s learning and development: promoting and encouraging creativity, awareness of environmental issues including recycling, creative writing and physical activity.
