Positive Help provide practical and social support to both adults and children living with HIV and Hepatitis C in Edinburgh and the Lothian with the help of our volunteers. Our free services such as supportive transport and study buddies create lasting change and help enhance their life quality.

Story

Everyone deserves a healthy diet, and for adults and children living with HIV this is even more important. The right food helps the absorption and effectiveness of life saving HIV medication, and counteracts unpleasant side effects. Positive Help offers emergency food parcels to help with this during the year and at Christmas time we provide Holiday Hampers with 10 days worth of food.

Every family we support is increasingly disadvantaged through the cost-of-living crisis, stigma, and prejudice.

We are looking for donations towards our campaign in order to purchase the 'fresh foods' for the hampers; such as fruit and veg, bread, milk etc. We will also use donations to top up any tins where needed. Donations will also help with the cost of travel for our kind volunteers making journies to deliver the parcels to each of our service users.

Positive Help has supported people living with HIV and Hepatitis for over 33 years. We have seen an increasing need for our food parcels in recent times, and with many of our service users living with compromised immune systems, they must have access to the right food to stay healthy and well.

Why is Bring a Tin Important? They alleviate financial and emotional stresses faced by many living in poverty, especially over the December Holidays. Some parents cannot afford to feed their children, let alone provide a gift under the tree. These parcels boost morale and encourage service users to eat well, take care of themselves and their families, and improve well-being through the compassion and understanding of Positive Help.
