Unlocking Holst Victorian House

We're looking to raise and invest £30,000 into the Holst Victorian House to make it a better and more inspiring space for you.

Help us:

- Create a more authentic Victorian atmosphere by restoring the hallway and installing period lighting and decoration.

- Enable visitors to hear the story of the house and its inhabitants as they take their tour, in person or virtually via our website.

- Engage with a broader and more diverse audience in the local community.

- Enhance the experience of visiting for people with sight and hearing difficulties.

- Become a must visit destination for Holst fans, where his original manuscripts are brought to life using the latest technology.

About the charity

The Holst Birthplace Trust seeks to advance the education of the public and encourage the art of music. We do this through the maintenance, promotion and continuing development of Holst Victorian House a museum and period home where composer Gustav Holst was born. Visitors to Holst Victorian House can hear stories of its eclectic residents, experience a working Victorian kitchen and scullery, and delight in authentic Victorian interiors above stairs. They can also discover the life and times of Holst and view many of his possessions, including a piano on which he composed The Planets.
