North Northumberland Fundraising Group had hoped to hold our annual Forget Me Not Walk in person on Holy Island in September to mark blood cancer awareness month. This is not possible again this year due to Covid-19 and the impact on event insurance. However, we really hope to be walking with you all again in 2022, and for 2021 we are again holding our alternative walk.
We'd love for you to take part, walking any time in September to mark blood cancer awareness month, with a route of your choice.
The safety of all our walkers and supporters is our main priority, but we can still raise money to beat blood cancer together. Why not create your own event by linking up virtually with friends and family, and raise money for Blood Cancer UK.
You decide the route of up to five miles, or however far you feel able to walk. You may want to walk in your garden or go on your favourite walk - you decide what suits you best whilst meeting the appropriate government guidelines and restrictions in place in September.
Feel free to choose a time or date that best suits you in September during blood cancer awareness month. Whilst we won't all be walking together on Holy Island this year, if you choose to walk on Holy Island for your own walk, please find the September tide time tables to adhere to.
There will be no entry fee for the event this year, but we would still encourage all participants to fundraise for us if they can this is especially important given the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on our ability to raise funds.
You can make a donation to the Holy Island Forget Me Not Walk's JustGiving page or you can set up your own JustGiving page to ask family and friends to sponsor your walk. If you set up your own page please remember to mention the Holy Island Walk in your page bio!
We know a number of you will have your old walk t-shirts you may wish to walk in, and for those who'd like a newly branded Blood Cancer UK t-shirt these can be purchased on the charity's online shop .
A really lovely part of last year's alternative walk was all the photos of walkers and their alternative routes that were shared with us and we'd really like to see this year's photos too, which we can share on our group's Facebook page. Please share your photos with us from your walk on the North Northumberland Fundraising Group Facebook page wed love to see how you're taking part!
We'd like to thank Rennie Welch for their sponsorship of this alternative event. We look forward to their continued involvement and your continued support next year, when we will meet again on Holy Island in 2022.
