We applied for funding to the Welsh Government to provide seven emergency pods in Newport and unfortunately this was turned down as they want to concentrate on funding more permanent solutions and more outreach workers. We are not going to solve the homelessness situations anytime soon. Homeless in Wales has increased year on year since 2012 with more rough sleepers in our shop doorways and underpasses'. Some homeless people cant go into hostels as they do not want to deal with other peoples crisis, whether that be with substance abusers or alcohol dependant.
