Story

We are frustrated to report that Hope Garden and Shop was broken into on the night of Tuesday May 28th 2024.

Thankfully, damage to the site was limited to forced hasp locks, broken shed doors, and fence slats, with only a few items taken. However, this included the office phone which is full of many irreplaceable contact numbers and messages, a bunch of keys meaning we had to replace all the locks, and even the box of chocolates from the raffle basket!

In order to re-secure the site we are now out of pocket from a locksmith visit, new padlocks and other bits and pieces that needed to be replaced. As a Charity we are always operating on a tight budget, so this was an unwelcome expense taking funds away from other projects onsite.

We are hoping to raise £500 to cover damage and losses incurred, and invest in some extra security measures around site. Our insurance excess would wipe out most of any claim we made, so your donation is greatly appreciated and will allow us to get back to what we do best - supporting trainees with horticultural and social opportunities and growing some delicious organic produce.

Thank you from all of us at Hope Organic Garden.
