Emergency Summer Hay Appeal: Help Us Keep Our Animals Fed

We honestly can’t believe we’re having to launch this appeal. For the first time in Hopefield’s history, we’re having to supplement the diets of many of our grazing animals with hay during the summer months.

We aim to promote humane behaviour towards animals by providing appropriate care, treatment, and dietary needs for animals in need. We also aim to educate the public in matters of animal welfare and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among animals.

Story

The prolonged period of dry, hot weather has left our fields parched, with very little grass available. Normally, our grazing animals would receive much of the food they need naturally from the land at this time of year—but our fields have taken such a battering that they simply haven’t been able to recover.

Our animals must always come first, so we’re now providing additional hay to ensure they continue receiving the nutrition they need. However, this is an unexpected and significant extra cost for the sanctuary.

We’re also extremely worried about the longer-term impact of this weather. With hay and straw production being affected across the country, supplies could become much harder to source—and prices are likely to rise considerably as we head towards winter. With around 700 rescued animals relying on us, this is a frightening prospect.

Just £6.50 will purchase one bale of hay.

- £13 could provide two bales

- £32.50 could provide five bales

- £65 could provide ten bales

Every donation, no matter how small, will help us keep our animals properly fed throughout the summer and prepare for the difficult months ahead.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing our appeal. Every donation and every share truly makes a difference.

Please help us keep Hopefield’s rescued animals fed—one bale at a time.
