Story
This means that all of Hopefield’s rescued birds — from our cheeky chickens to our beautiful parrots and ducks — are now entering “flockdown.”
To comply with these strict new biosecurity rules, we’re working tirelessly to extend and adapt our birds’ indoor spaces, so they can still enjoy time outside — safely — in covered aviaries that meet the government’s new housing requirements.
However, this is an enormous and unexpected challenge for us.
We need to source building materials, tools, and volunteer support to make it happen quickly — and like many other charities right now, we’re really struggling financially.
💔 This year alone, Hopefield’s visitor numbers during October half-term for our Halloween Festival have dropped by 32%, and we lost almost £100,000 in visitor income when we had to close for emergency repairs earlier in the summer. As winter approaches, our costs continue to rise while income falls.
Your donation today will go directly towards:
✅ Building and extending secure, covered aviaries for our birds
✅ Providing enrichment to keep them happy and stimulated during flockdown
✅ Supporting the daily care of our 700+ rescued animals
Every pound makes a difference — no matter how small.
With your help, we can keep our birds safe, comfortable, and cared for throughout this difficult period.
Thank you so much for standing by us. We simply couldn’t do this without the kindness and generosity of our supporters 💛
