Why we need your help

Between 1 November 2024 and 31 March 2025, we spent just under £30,000 on hay and straw. With prices continuing to rise, we’re expecting this winter’s total to reach around £35,000.

💚 £2.50 buys a bale of straw — fresh bedding for comfort and warmth

💚 £5.50 buys a bale of hay — nourishing meals to get our residents through the cold

💚 £8 buys a bag of horse feed - helping keep our 60+ equine residents fed

💚 £13 buys a bag of pig feed - which our hungry piggies get through A LOT of

💚 £20 helps feed and bed a rescued animal for a week

💚 £50 will keep all our cows' beds clean, warm and cosy for a week

Meet a few of our residents who depend on your kindness

🐴 Juliet the Horse

Juliet came to Hopefield severely underweight and with painful burns from having bleach thrown over her — the result of heart-breaking neglect. Today, she’s unrecognisable: strong, gentle, and surrounded by love. Your support ensures she’ll never go hungry or cold again.

🐮 Chip the Cow

Chip was a week old when he arrived at Hopefield. He came from a farm who were going to send him to slaughter for veal, but instead, he was given a second chance. Thanks to our supporters, Chip now leads his herd in safety, grazing contentedly under the watchful care of our team.

🐖 Hope & Blossom the Pigs

These two beautiful girls were rescued by our friends at Humane World for Animals as part of their inspiring “Crate Escape” campaign, which works to end the use of cruel farrowing crates in the farming industry. Now living their best lives at Hopefield, Hope & Blossom spend their days rooting around in straw, snoozing side by side, and enjoying the freedom they were once denied. Your donation helps us keep them warm and comfortable all winter long.

The harsh reality

Like many charities, we’re feeling the strain. Rising prices, increased utility bills, and lower-than-usual visitor numbers have all made this year especially difficult. Every penny we raise goes directly towards caring for the animals — but without your help, meeting even the most basic costs becomes a real challenge.
