Some days are harder than others at the Rescue and yesterday was particularly tough. A stray dog was brought through our doors, having been found dumped on the side of the road. She was heavily, heavily pregnant, had mange and was in a bad state. We gave her a quick check over and made her comfortable. It seemed as though she may be in labour. She was chipped but this was not registered.

All strays must be reported to the Dog Warden and therefore this is what we did. Thankfully the Warden agreed that we could keep her here so as not to stress her more and also for us to provide the obvious care needed. During the night things turned and she was struggling to give birth. She was rushed to the vets for a c section. She had 4 little puppies inside her. Sadly, one pup had been dead for sometime and two others did not make it (although the vets tried for 30 minutes to keep them alive). Only one pup has survived.

Mum and pup are not in great shape but we hope they can pull through. Hope is all we have, which is why we have named mum Hope.

Times like this have a huge impact on our resources and we will now be facing a large vet bill, potentially in the thousands.

We are asking you to give us Hope and assist us with the vet bills if at all possible. We will never let an animal suffer.

She is now settled and pup is feeding well from her the signs are so far encouraging

Please note Hope and her pup will not be up for adoption for quite some time and at the moment no photos of them are being released.

If by a miracle, we raise over and above the vet fee, the money will of course be used for the care of our other dogs.
