Story
Horizons exists to ensure every child and young person in Haringey, Enfield and Waltham Forest has the opportunity to access extra-curricular activities across art, music, sport and academic support.
Opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities are not equally distributed. Involvement in extra-curricular activities is affected by several factors, including socio-economic status, gender, ethnicity, school attended and geographic location.
• 37% of young people in the UK don’t take part in extra-curricular activities
• 54% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds are unable to engage in any extra-curricular activities
With the continued cost-of-living crisis, the disparity in access to extra-curricular opportunities has never been so great. This must change. And Horizons is here to make that happen.
We know that participation in extra-curricular activities significantly increases social connection, positively impacts the physical and mental health of young people and assists in every area of their development.
Horizons supports equity of access to extra-curricular activity, ALL children and young people in Haringey, Enfield and Waltham Forest will have the opportunity to fulfil their enormous potential. We won’t step until we level the playing field.

I'm really proud that I have learnt to sail in a boat. I never thought I would do something like this. I told my Mum, and she can't believe it!
That was the best morning, I have never seen a performance before, can we have more of those!
The week was a rollercoaster with lots of ups and downs. Rock climbing was scary at first but it was great to overcome my fears
The Barcelona trip was the best time of my life. I have never been on a plane or a boat before, and now I have done both! I don't want to leave Spain.
