The Horsham Blue Ribbon Foundation raises money for equipment for Wimmera Health Care Group (WHCG) and has set its sights on raising $30,000 towards a new Neonatal Resuscitator Unit.
The resuscitation cot in maternity services are a vital part of WHCG's standard equipment and will assist them in being prepared to manage the smallest of babies, given the vast size of the catchment area they cover.
The Neonatal Resuscitator Unit's are used for a variety of resuscitation measures, such as intubation and breathing support, performing chest compressions and administering medications and intravenous fluids. The cots are designed to promote optimal temperature control and have heaters installed in addition to other monitoring equipment.
This Neonatal Resuscitator Unit will be vital for preventing neonatal deaths and adverse long-term effects for infants born not breathing. Having this unit available at WHCG allows immediate action when babies are born unwell and allow support to families closer to home.
