Story
BASICS Essex Recovery Appeal
Recently, an explosion at our Rettendon headquarters caused significant damage to our building and the essential equipment stored inside as well as one of our Rapid Response Vehicles. While we are grateful that no one was harmed, the impact on our operations has been substantial.
BASICS Essex is a volunteer-led organisation providing advanced medical support to the sickest and most seriously injured patients across the county. Our responders rely on specialist equipment, training resources, and a functional base to deliver this care effectively.
What We Need to Do Now
To continue supporting the people of Essex, we must:
Secure and set up a new headquarters
A safe and practical space is essential for coordination, training, and equipment storage.
Replace key lifesaving equipment
We will need to replace any lifesaving equipment and person protective equipment that has been damaged or lost in the blast.
Replenish our teaching and fundraising resources
Our community CPR sessions, trauma training, and outreach activities depend on equipment that can no longer be used.
How Your Support Helps
Every donation contributes directly to restoring our ability to respond, teach, and support the community. Your help ensures our volunteers can continue delivering advanced care when it’s needed most.
Moving Forward Together
This incident has been a setback, but it hasn’t changed our commitment to Essex. With your support, we can rebuild our base, replace essential equipment, and return to full operational strength.
Thank you for standing with us as we recover and continue our work.
