We work with refugees and asylum seekers in Horsham District, linking in with West Sussex County Council and Horsham District Council. We are currently supporting around 250 people in the locality. We have a team of around 40 volunteers who offer befriending services and support with learning English, as well as homework support for children and young people. We keep in contact with groups and individuals across the district to get them involved when needs arise. We deliver talks and presentations to those who want to know more about refugees and how to support them locally.

Story

School summer holidays can be a difficult time for those we support. Our families are generally living on a low income with limited transport available and we love to provide some fun for the children during their six-week break from school. With your help, we can provide activities for the 120 children we support.

Last summer we organised:

- weekly drop-in sessions in the town for refugee families

- arts-and-crafts and games sessions for asylum-seeker children

- a circus show from Flying Seagulls

- visits from Lego Brick Bus

- a sports afternoon with Horsham Sports Services

- a magic show from Marky Wilde

- a drumming session with Boom Tribe.

We are looking to raise £1500 to do it again.

Can you help us provide some fun this summer?
