HSO are running the Knaresborough Bed Race in aid of Follifoot Park Disabled Riders Group, who rely on donations to fund riding and carriage driving for over 130 people in the local area and is a charity run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

Part fancy dress, part gruelling time trial over 2.4 miles ending up in the icy waters of the River Nidd, the race team will push the metal bed, complete with passenger, heaving it up the grassy bank and around the cobbled streets before taking on the notorious 20 yard swim across the fast flowing river!

Runners have been practising hard and working on their fitness, and even managed to pop into the stables to introduce the horses and riders to their musical instruments! Check out the photos!

The team is made up of members of the orchestra, some of whom are doing it for the first time, and thanks to a generous sponsor they have commissioned a new 'go faster' bed this year to replace the stately galleon they had before.
