Story

If you wish to make a positive social impact within the community, we can help.

Our aim is to give children the best possible start in life.

We are a local charity supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged parents with young children through challenging times, offering one-to-one volunteer support when it’s needed most.

Families we help are facing a range of difficulties, such as poor mental health, disability, domestic abuse, bereavement, isolation, multiple births, or family breakdown. By supporting parents, we help to create more secure, stable childhoods.

This year marks our 30th anniversary, and we’re inviting individuals, groups, and organisations to help us mark this milestone by supporting families in need.

Your support can make a real and lasting difference to the life of a child. Whether you choose to donate directly or fundraise through activities like dress-down days, cake sales, personal challenges – or anything else you can imagine – every contribution helps us continue providing vital support to struggling families.

Together, we can help parents build brighter futures for their children.

‘Without the help of the volunteer I don’t think I would have coped. My life has turned right around and now I feel like part of the community’

‘Being stuck at home with twins, one severely disabled made me feel guilty, like I was letting them down by limiting the experiences they could have. At times the stress drove me to self-harm. We will never forget our Home-Start Volunteer, she genuinely cared for us.’

Quotes from Referrers:

‘No other service can offer the same amount of support. It caters to the family’s specific needs rather than organisational goals’

‘Families always benefit from Home-Start intervention as it is practical and emotional support, given at a time when this kind of support is crucial to a family getting back on their feet’
