Hunger Heroes was created to ensure that children and families have consistent access to healthy, nutritious meals during the summer months when school is out.

Businesses, social clubs, youth groups, sports teams, and even families have the opportunity to participate in Hunger Heroes and support the Foodbank by donating food and funds and volunteering.

Last year, we raised enough food and funds to provide 134,000 meals to our neighbors in need.

This year, we are hoping to raise $70,000 and 4,000 pounds (144,000 meals).

Why should we help? This year, we are expecting more neighbors to experience food insecurity because of the rising cost of groceries, gas, and housing. Also, pandemic-era programs like supplemental SNAP allotments have ended, further exacerbating the inflationary pressures hurting low-income families.

Additionally, pandemic-era, state-funded grants have come to a close, limiting the Foodbank's purchasing power and ability to meet the growing demand from our neighbors in need.
