Little Jordy was found clinging to life near our IAPWA Penang centre and desperately needs your help.
Jordy was in a devastating state and must have been suffering for days, struggling to eat, drink or even keep his eyes open. We can only imagine the pain, fear and loneliness he endured as he battled to survive.
Upon rescue, Jordy was rushed straight to the vets, where urgent tests were carried out to determine the severity of his condition. The results revealed a catalogue of heartbreaking injuries and illnesses.
He has been diagnosed with a mandibular symphyseal fracture, meaning his lower jaw has been fractured and separated, severe dehydration, a secondary respiratory tract infection, and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), a condition that weakens a cat's immune system and leaves him more vulnerable to further infections.
It is an enormous burden for one small cat to carry, but despite everything he has endured, Jordy is still fighting.
Our veterinary team has already begun intensive treatment, including X-rays, fitting a nasogastric feeding tube, and starting intensive IV fluid therapy and antibiotics.
But Jordy's battle is far from over.
Jordy urgently needs surgery to repair his broken jaw. This procedure is vital if he is to continue his treatment and recovery journey and have the best possible chance of overcoming the challenges that still lie ahead.
Sadly, our IAPWA Penang team is already tremendously stretched, and Jordy's veterinary treatment is extensive and costly. Yet when a vulnerable animal arrives at our doors in desperate need, we cannot simply turn them away.
