Story

The Inflammatory Breast Cancer Network UK is proud to announce the launch of the "Wear It Orange" campaign as part of this year's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While the month of October is traditionally associated with all things pink, we are inviting you to stand out and wear orange in support of raising awareness for inflammatory breast cancer (IBC), a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. We want to be the orange in the pink.

Why Orange?

Inflammatory breast cancer often presents with a distinctive symptom known as peau d'orange, where the skin appears dimpled and resembles the texture of an orange peel. By choosing to wear orange, we celebrate our difference and bring much-needed attention to this often overlooked condition.

IBC is less common but more aggressive than other forms of breast cancer, and early detection is crucial as the earliest it can be diagnosed is at stage 3. Many people are unaware of the signs of IBC, and this campaign aims to change that. Your support and participation in wearing orange can help spread awareness and educate others on the early warning signs of IBC.

The Friday 4th October is Inflammatory Breast Cancer Awareness Day. What better day than to join us in raising awareness by arranging an afternoon tea, going for a run, or simply donning your best orange outfit. On the 4th of October, let's shine a light on IBC.

Since the foundation of the charity in 2014, our donors and fundraisers have generously given over £450,000 to help fund IBC research in the UK and advance awareness and education of IBC. We want to try this year to break £500,000 raised over the last 10 years.

With research costs increasing year on year, raising funds to ensure UK research into this aggressive type of breast cancer continues is vital and we need your help, more than ever, to do this.
