HOME IS A HUMAN RIGHT. We exist to defend the right to a safe home in Wales and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society. We do this with advice, support and campaigns – and we never give up. We believe that home is everything. Stand with us. Join the fight.

Story

Home is more than bricks and mortar. Its the foundation for all our lives, Yet right now, thousands of families across Wales are being denied this right. Thats why IKEA has joined forces with Shelter Cymru to ensure more families have access to the thing we value most; a safe place to call home.

Over the next 8 years, IKEA will support our vital front line services to empower more families to have a better life at home.

Home is a human right, We exist to defend the right to a safe home in Wales and fight the devasting impact the housing emergency has on people and society.

At Shelter Cymru we help thousands of people each year across Wales who are affected by offering free, confidential and independent housing and debt advice and support. Our support is available to everybody who needs it, in all 22 local authority areas of Wales, as well as by phone and online. Last year we helped 17,215 people find and keep homes. A further 400,980 visited our Advice Online digital housing advice website, where they accessed interactive and up to date information and guidance, providing them with the tools needed to help themselves.

Our frontline services advise and support people with a range of housing and debt problems, such as rent arrears or unsafe conditions. We help people manage their finances to make accommodation more affordable and negotiate with landlords and mortgage companies to keep them in their homes. We advocate for those without a home, whether rough sleeping or sofa surfing, and we connect people to services that can help in other areas of their lives such as mental health, employment and relationships. No one should face homelessness alone. #Fightforhome
