Ilkley Fountain Phase 2

Organised by Improving Ilkley

After the successful delivery of Phase 1 and the reinstatement of the gravity-feed fountain at Mill Ghyll, local charity Improving Ilkley - who will also project manage this next phase - are pleased to announce the launch of Phase 2

Improving Ilkley was incorporated to identify, fund and deliver projects that enhance, preserve and benefit Ilkley and Ben Rhydding – working in conjunction with key community stakeholders and the council by consensus and consultation. The group is run as a not-for-profit organisation that will coordinate fundraising to deliver the identified projects. Projects can be suggested for feasibility appraisal from residents, community groups, community ‘interested parties’ e.g. The Civic Society, commercial entities.

Story

Ilkley fountain has made a comeback! More than just restoring a feature, Phase 2 of this project is about creating a beautiful, accessible space where people can meet, pause, and connect. Inspired by ripples spreading across the water, the design will feature elegant arcs and seating areas. We want the space to invite people in - to reflect, chat, or simply gather and watch others go about their business.

The area around the fountain will be clean, durable and timeless, with a strong sense of place. The much-missed 'monkey-rack’ seating will return in spirit, offering outward- facing views down Brook Street, while the central area will remain flexible for seasonal features like the Christmas tree, Easter Cross and other multi-faith installations. We're keeping the design smart and sustainable - minimising maintenance and using quality materials, including the names of benefactors around the fountain's base and with appropriate lighting.

This is a space to be proud of - rooted in likley's past but looking firmly to the future. Please support phase 2 of the regeneration of this special place in Ilkley for generations to come.

DONATIONS OVER £250 + GIFT AID - A NAME (person, family, business - 20 character count) WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE INSTALLATION AS A PERMANENT RECORD OF SUPPORT.
