Story
Dementia affects families in every community, and its impact is growing. If nothing changes, one in two people will be directly affected by dementia in their lifetime, either by developing the condition themselves, caring for someone who has it, or both. Research is making progress, but we urgently need better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
That's why the Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale is proud to be supporting Alzheimer's Research UK through this sponsored walk on Sunday 20 September 2026, held on the eve of World Alzheimer's Day. By coming together as a community, we can help raise awareness of dementia and fund the life-changing research that offers hope for the future.
Here in Wharfedale and across Yorkshire, many families have experienced the impact of dementia firsthand. This walk is an opportunity for our community to honour loved ones, support those affected today, and help fund the research that could change countless lives in the future.
Every step taken and every pound raised will support pioneering research into the diseases that cause dementia. Scientists are making breakthroughs in diagnosis, prevention and treatment, but there is still much more to do.
By donating today, you are helping Alzheimer's Research UK fund the world's brightest researchers as they work towards new treatments and a cure. Together, we can help create a future where people no longer have to face the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.
Your generosity is part of a legacy of hope, helping future generations live in a world free from dementia.
Thank you for supporting the Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale and Alzheimer's Research UK. Your donation will make a real difference and bring us one step closer to a cure.
