Story
The Ivor Leigh Memorial School urgently needs your support. Our original zinc roof—now decades old—has been patched many times, but months of relentless heavy rain and high winds have caused damage that can no longer be repaired.
Right now, the roof is leaking badly. Buckets are scattered around classrooms and corridors to catch the dripping water, and we’ve had to move furniture, equipment, and learning materials to prevent further damage. Despite our best efforts, the situation is getting worse.
Several key areas of the school—including two offices, part of the school hall, and Class 6—are now damp, unsafe, and at risk of becoming unusable. If we cannot fix the roof soon, we may be forced to close before the end of term, which would also impact enrolment for the new school year.
We’ve been quoted £9,448 for a full replacement this includes £4220 for the roof, £3660 for the ceiling and £1568 for the pillars/beams. It’s a significant amount, but this isn’t a temporary fix. The new roof will be built with durable, long‑lasting materials and reinforced beams to prevent sagging and eliminate the need for constant patch repairs.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to making the school safe, dry, and ready for our students again. Thank you for helping us protect our school and our children’s learning environment.
