IMET2000 Annual Gala Event on Thursday 18 May, 2023 at 7pm on Zoom

Our mission is to upgrade healthcare through the education and training of all professionals working in the healthcare sector worldwide, particularly those working with children suffering physical and mental trauma through extreme economic deprivation, major natural disaster or military conflict.

Story

Please join us on Zoom on Thursday, 18 May, 2023 at 1900 to 2100 for the IMET2000 Annual Gala Event, our most important fundraising event of the year. The programme is now almost completed to include: top comedians (with Mark Thomas and friends); conversations with our CEO, Dr Malik Zaben, on his return to Palestine as Dean of the Arab-American University of Palestine (AAUP) School of Medicine; IMET2000 Chair, Professor Nick Maynard in conversation with Dr Richard Horton, Editor in Chief of the leading medical journal The Lancet; Mark Thomas in conversation with IMET2000 Founder, Professor Colin Green, about his 70-year interest in the Arab World and Palestine; and wonderful young musicians from the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music (Ramallah and Gaza).

We will be raising funds for seven projects within three main programmes. These are: our Child Mental Health Programme in the Middle East including those with special needs in Syrian refugee camps after the earthquake; upgrading medical education including a special scheme in the Arab-American University of Palestine (AAUP) for Bedouin and others needing financial support as well as support for 40 AAUP Medical Students to train in clinical skills in Oxford and Dundee; and support for the 400/year cataract operations offered free at no cost to the near blind and poorest patients in Uganda.

Your support of our event would be much appreciated. To confirm your attendance and to obtain the zoom joining link please email info@imet2000.org
