There is no good that comes of war, but what we can learn from the stories and strength of those who survive them. And those who know war know that it IS worth fighting for their victims, especially the youngest ones.
As part of a new fundraising event series called Summits for Smiles, where individuals raise money for INARA by summiting peaks and mountains around the world. Arwa Damon, INARAs President and Co-Founder, along with Mostafa Salameh, a renowned mountaineer who was born a refugee to Palestinian parents in Jordan, will be taking two INARA's beneficiaries to hike up to the highest point in Africa to show them and others that there is always hope and light at the end of the tunnel. We hope to use this event to bring global attention to the plight and strength of conflict-impacted children. Our climbers, from Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine are united in saying the impact caused by war is universal, the response to it should be as well.
The journey will take 7 days to reach the top of the mountain while we aim to raise 700,000 USD to treat another 100 war impacted children and let them see the possibility of a future beyond their darkest experiences. It costs around $7000 to provide medical and mental health care to either significantly reduce the impact of an injury or reverse it.
