Independent Lives is a user-led charity working to change the lives of disabled people, people with support needs and carers. Our vision is for a fair society where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
We offer activities for older adults, individuals with support needs, and those living with dementia. Our support services give carers valuable time and space for themselves. The minibus plays a crucial role in our Carers Respite Service, providing reliable transport each week, as well as facilitating numerous outings and trips throughout the year. It is an essential resource for strengthening community engagement.
To continue this vital service, we are aiming to upgrade our minibus and will be organising a range of fundraising events to make this possible.

Now, my husband gets to leave the house a few days a week and take part in lots of different fun activities, and he’s always a completely different person when he gets home – so cheerful and more relaxed.”
