Story
Inter Care aims to collect surplus health care goods and medicines (donated and purchased), for the two-fold purpose of medical waste reduction and to send regular consignments of vital medical aid to rural health units across sub-Saharan Africa.
Our mission to reduce medical waste is crucial. Disposing of good-quality medical supplies by sending them to landfills or incineration significantly harms our planet. Your support can help mitigate this damage by ensuring that these supplies are repurposed when our local healthcare providers no longer require them.
We urgently need your assistance to fund the transportation costs of delivering these essential supplies to the health units. Often, we receive parcels of surplus supplies at our facility, and our dedicated volunteers diligently screen, sort and pack them for distribution to our partner health units.
Recent reports indicating that “levels of the most significant planet-warming gas in our atmosphere rose more quickly than ever previously recorded last year, scientists say, leaving a key global climate target hanging by a thread” (17/1/24 - BBC News).

Imagine this foetal doppler has been thrown into landfill. Luckily, this piece of equipment was sent to Inter Care. It operates effectively, and has the potential to greatly reduce newborn mortality rates in Africa. It is crucial that we rescue items like this and give them a second life.
Now, more than ever, we must strive to protect our planet. By joining Inter Care’s mission, you can help us decrease medical waste across the UK, prevent it from ending up in landfills, and ensure that these supplies reach the health units in sub-Saharan Africa that desperately need them.
