Story

The ongoing negative media coverage of Islam and Muslims is having a real impact on a young Muslims identity. The ease of access online has resulted in 1 in 10 visitors to pornographic video sites being under the age of 10. The current school curriculum is raising serious questions and doubts, notwithstanding imminent changes that have been proposed! Exposure to graphic violence through video games and social media live streams is causing trauma thats manifesting itself through bullying, knife-crime and the rise in gang culture.

With all this, our future generations of Muslims are at risk of being lost.

It's, therefore, no surprise to find out that about 1 in 4 Muslims growing up in the west are losing their faith. Whats more, 2 in 5 11-16 year-olds in the UK are bullied about the way they look every week.

These are not just random stats. This is the reality that our youth are living daily. How are they supposed to cope with these overwhelming challenges? The youth that we have been interacting with at our events demonstrate that they don't know how to deal with these challenges.

Aqil attended our NITEMANIA and shared that I have a friend who is 12 years old and he has left Islam. I have tried to speak to him, but I dont know what I need to do to convince him to come back. Hes going through a rough time right now and keeps blaming Allah. Some things hes seen on YouTube have messed him up.

Who do they turn to for help?

Aisha was struggling with these same issues when she attended one of our programmes. So today I attended the CRAZIA event run by Islamic Network. I got a chance to speak about what Ive been going through these past three years. Basically, in school, Ive been bullied online and in person, and Ive never really spoken about it. Ive never really had the chance to make people understand what I went through. But today was really beneficial for me because I finally got a chance to say what I had to say. I finally got a chance to open up."

How are we addressing the issue as a community?

How do we save our Muslim Youth? Do we have any practical solutions ready to tackle this major challenge of our time?

Should we sit and watch our next generation slip away and do nothing about it? We couldn't, so we decided to take action and develop a model that would transform our youth.

We, Islamic Network, deliver transformative events that help Muslim youth stop falling into all sorts of doubts, temptations, addictions and straying away from Islam. We're not a flyby charity, every community we work in we commit to a minimum two-year development programme for them and their youth! Each event accommodates 30 youth, aged 13-21 from Isha to Fajr - yes - ALL NIGHT in the Masjid.

What makes us unique is that our focus is NOT on education, but on providing a transformational experience. Our events and activities such as NITEMANIA (for boys) and CRAZIA (for girls) are designed in a way for people to instantly let go, relax and build a rapport with our trained team. Moreover, once that relationship has been established, we hold private Q&A sessions, 1:1 between the Shaykh and each attendee. It's in those private sessions that the real transformation happens. Each event accommodates 30 youth, aged 13-21 from Isha to Fajr - yes - ALL NIGHT in the Masjid.

In 2018/19, the two most common area of questions were (1) LGBT related or about (2) explicit sexual practices. Remember - these are questions from people under 21! This alone is one of the reasons what we do is VITAL in the Muslim community - who else can these youth turn to, to ask such questions!

The welcoming and relaxed environment is exactly what we [youth] need. It gets rid of the perception that the mosque will be a judgemental place. - Khadija (London)

Be part of our inspiring vision of change for our youth.

Nitemania was very influential in assisting and helping me to become a better Muslim, to make good practising Muslim friends and to put my priorities straight. The shaykhs Q&A session opened my eyes, clearing up some issues that were bugging me. - Harris (London)

We need you to support this initiative and transform the lives of many more youths like Haris, who really need a change of direction in their lives.

We need you to be involved in making this vision a reality for them all around the UK and beyond.

It costs us on average £300 to run an event including food, educational materials, equipment, take-away gifts and marketing.

Do you want limitless rewards?

This year alone, we are on a mission to partner with 10 local communities to TRANSFORM the lives of over 1800 Muslim Youth through our crucial programmes. Can you imagine the reward of making that possible?

Imagine the reward for someone who protects our Muslim Youth from going astray and invites them instead towards establishing their connection with Allah. To start praying, fasting and giving sadaqah. Whatever good action they do from then on, you get a copy of that reward because you made it possible. HOW?

Because the Prophet Muhammed taught us that if we help others to do something good, we get a copy of the reward they earn, every time they do that action.

So the real question is how will you help us make a real difference to the lives of our youth in the community?
