Story
The cattery that is currently on-site is sadly not fit for purpose.
There are six pens, however there is no isolation facilities at all. Cats MUST be placed into isolation on arrival to a rescue, to prevent the spread of infections and diseases around the cattery. Before we can admit cats into the centre, we need a new unit to house the isolation pens. There is a suitable building for this, however it requires a lot of upgrading with insulation, electrics, and water. The cost for these works is £850
We will need four isolation pods. We will be purchasing veterinary style cat pods, that are heated, LED lit, and ventilated. These cages will vastly help infection control measures, and are the highest standard for our rescue cats. The cost of these pods is £3700
The main cattery block currently has metal cage doors, which we feel is going to be a little too chilly for our kitties in the cold winter months. We need to upgrade the doors and exterior wall to PVC and glass.
The main cattery requires a kitchen to be fitted as there is currently no washing facilities, it requires new flooring throughout, and all cattery pens need furnishing with cat flaps (they are all missing), cat towers, cosy beds and toys. We need to bring plumbing underground to be able to fit the new sink and washing machine.
Animal Friends Pet Insurance have been incredibly kind and helped us with a £3000 grant towards this work.
The total cost for the entire renovation is £11,384
