Story

Our precious little Prince Jacob is a brave and beautiful 7 year old who fought for his life from the very first moment. Born without a heartbeat due to his mother’s internal bleeding, Jacob took his first breath after 16 agonising minutes. Those minutes changed everything. The lack of oxygen caused severe bilateral brain damage and from that day on, Jacob’s life has been a continuous fight filled with courage, determination, and quiet strength.

Jacob’s brain injury has resulted in quadriplegic cerebral palsy, uncontrollable (drug-resistant) epilepsy, cortical visual impairment (he is registered blind), and dystonia. He endures multiple seizures daily. His muscles are often painfully stiff, leaving him uncomfortable and distressed, moments that are utterly heartbreaking for us to witness as his parents. Jacob is non-mobile and non-verbal and requires round-the-clock care. He depends entirely on others to meet his needs, yet he faces each day with a resilience that humbles everyone around him and a smile that brightens the room.

In the last two years, Jacob has undergone two major hip surgeries, each followed by long, exhausting periods of rehabilitation. These were not easy recoveries. They required intensive therapy, specialist support, and access to highly specialised equipment such as the InnoWalk that allowed Jacob to safely incorporate guided movement into his recovery but comes at an enormous cost. Without this support, Jacob’s pain, stiffness, and risk of further complications would be even greater.

Jacob needs continuous therapy to help him gain any possible independence, develop functional skills, and maintain muscle movement, things many of us never have to think twice about. Since birth, he has accessed numerous therapies including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, ABM, MAES, the Scotson Technique, private physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, cranial sacral therapy, stem cell therapy, DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention), and private speech and language therapy to support his communication. Each session represents hope, hope for a little more comfort, a little more connection, and a little more joy in Jacob’s life. None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary kindness of previous supporters, for which we are endlessly grateful.

Sadly, Jacob’s needs will never end. His condition requires lifelong care, ongoing therapy, and specialist equipment that simply is not available through the NHS. The financial strain on his family is immense, but every piece of equipment, every therapy session, and every intervention makes a real difference to Jacob’s comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

Jacob inspires us every single day. He has taught us what unconditional love truly means. He was never expected to survive beyond two days yet here he is, seven years later, still fighting, still melting everyone’s heart with his smiles, still showing the world what true bravery looks like. He is our everything, and we will never stop fighting to give him the best life possible.

Every donation, no matter how small, helps ease Jacob’s pain, supports his development, and gives him the chance to live with greater comfort and dignity. Your generosity doesn’t just help fund therapy or equipment it helps give Jacob the life he deserves.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading Jacob’s story and for standing beside him on his journey.

With endless gratitude,

Jacob’s Family
