From providing the latest and best equipment, additional family facilities and supporting research the funds we raise helps to make lives better for thousands of people in our region.
The Cardio Unit at James Cook University Hospital offers a comprehensive range of modern, diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. These include facilities for the insertion and follow-up of pacemakers, echocardiography, exercise stress testing, various monitoring procedures and electrophysiology including radiofrequency, ablations and implantable defibrillators.
The unit also help the care of patients with chronic heart disease who develop other major illnesses and are supported by the cardiac rehabilitation department which provides a seven-week programme for patients recovering from heart conditions or surgery.
The unit is also a specialised regional service serving a population of 1.5 million stretching from Whitehaven in Cumbria to North Yorkshire, Teesside and Durham.
