Story

Ward 17 offers compassionate postnatal care to women and babies following birth. We also offer transitional care to babies who need extra observations, our aim is to keep mothers and babies together.

The ward have an area that is accessible from the ward, turning it into a garden will be beneficial to the women we care for and also for our staff.

Research has proven fresh air can help with poor mental health and improve outcomes. During the pandemic visitors have not been able access the ward, an outdoor space will give them somewhere to go.

Postnatal depression is something that has dramatically increased in numbers during the pandemic. The garden will give women a place to get fresh air and aid relaxation, as well as supporting the mental health needs of our staff.
