Our Story
In October, Jamie will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise vital funds for PL1 Civvy Street, our Plymouth-based veterans’ hub.
As a former Royal Marine Commando, Jamie knows all about endurance and grit. Kilimanjaro isn’t the hardest thing he has taken on, but this climb is about shedding light on the challenges veterans face after their service.
PL1 Civvy Street was established to assist veterans in navigating life after the Military. The transition isn’t always easy. Many find themselves facing unexpected battles with employment, housing, or mental health. We provide straight-talking, compassionate support and connect veterans with the services and opportunities they need.
Climbing Kilimanjaro is our way of making noise about that mission. Nearly 6,000 metres of altitude, long days of trekking, and the grind to the summit, every step will represent the journey veterans face when leaving the military. It’s tough, but with the right backing, it’s achievable.
Your donation helps us keep the doors open and the support flowing. From guiding veterans into new careers to signposting specialist help, every pound raised makes a real difference.
This climb is about more than reaching a summit; it’s about proving that on Civvy Street, no veteran should feel they’re climbing alone.
Thank you for supporting us and for backing our veterans.
