Story
Birth stories are with us for a lifetime - lets make all births a wonderful experience.
92% 0f women give birth in mainstream labour wards in the UK and we are committed to a family -centred approach to all births producing films and adapting birth rooms.
Changing the infastructure of birth environments for higher risk women making them more comfortable reduces stress and trauma for women and their families including the professional birth family.
Perhaps in time, maternity wards will not be defined as birth centres and labour wards but just birthing rooms, with the woman central to their care with midwives being present and obstetricians and others as required, this would support a more flexible woman focussed approach for those in labour and birth, as all rooms could be flexible with comfortable and calm surroundings? Maternity operating rooms could be further developed to enhance surroundings for natural (gentle) caesareans?
