Jeremy Stent, much loved husband of Shenoa and doting father, sadly passed away on Friday 24th August. He was originally from Chepstow and still has a large family in the area with mother Maureen, two sisters Alison and Sharon, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The night Jeremy went missing was the most difficult of all our lives and the volunteers from the local rescue service were immediately there to perform a series of difficult and sometimes dangerous tasks to search and find Jeremy. They continued to do so in the days following using lifeboats and on the land surrounding the River Wye valley. One volunteer even told my sisters husband their only goal was to make sure that Jeremy was reunited with his family. A few days later they were able to recover his body and end the missing part, which is a difficult unknown we would never want anyone else to go through.
My son has always loved the lifeboats and Jeremy would take him to see SARA anytime they were out to speak with children. When he saw the operation, my son even commented Are they doing that for free? Then when we went to a play area to distract him in the following days, I had given him money to buy a water. He then came back and told me he had put the change in the lifeboat to help other people.
SARA (the Severn Area Rescue Association) is based close to our house in the UK. It is entirely operated volunteers, who are always on-call and it depends on donations to maintain the service. Groups like this are truly amazing and we want SARA to be able to continue helping those who need their remarkable, specialised services.
We would like to thank all the teams that worked to find Jeremy and remember the caring, loving person Jeremy was through donations to support future SARA efforts.
