Story
š„ This Halloween, (31st October) Iām walking through FIRE to raise funds for Clarity Walks who provide free, guided walks in nature that bring people together, tackle isolation and help those who may feel alone find connection and a community they can be part of.
In the spirit of Halloween, I will be completing this challenge dressed as Grotbags! š§āāļøAs well as making my costume, I've started training by lighting lots of lovely candles, putting my fire on regularly and taking plenty of Ember bus trips! šš¤£
The Firewalk will starts from 6pm at Falcon Square, Inverness, if anyone would like to come see me complete my challenge.
A year ago, I moved to Inverness knowing nobody. Today, I have a community. I'm taking on this personal challenge to raise funds for Clarity Walk so that people can continue to benefit from the incredible work they do.
Through Clarity Walks, Iāve met wonderful people, discovered beautiful places across the Highlands, and found a hobby that has genuinely improved both my mental and physical health.
As I donāt have a car and live on a small budget, Iām especially grateful to the amazing walk leaders who have kindly given me lifts and made it possible for me to take part in walks that arenāt easily accessible by public transport.
There have been some unforgettable moments, such as walking through thick, glistening snow beneath blue skies at Brodie Castle, discovering the incredible birdlife at Arturlie Point, and even finding a new passion for birdwatching.
And then thereās Phyllis, a truly dedicated walk leader, famous for her incredible home baking, who goes out of her way, quietly and generously, to make a difference to other peopleās lives. So, Iām dedicating my fire walk challenge to Phyllis. ā¤ļø
If Clarity Walks can help someone who arrived in a new place knowing nobody, find friendship, confidence, connection and a new love of the outdoors, imagine what that support can mean to someone else.
Please sponsor my Fire Walk challenge and help Centred, whose work makes Clarity Walks and so many other mental health and wellbeing initiatives possible across the Highlands.š„š§”
