Joanna's challenge to support Classrooms In The Clouds and improve education for children in Nepal
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. I'm Joanna (Jojo) and I am taking on a personal challenge to raise money for Classrooms In The Clouds, an organisation which helps children in the Solukhumbu region of rural Nepal to gain access to a good education by building high quality classrooms, sponsoring teachers and addressing gender inequalities.
In the summer of 2019 my health suddenly deteriorated and I was diagnosed with Seronegative Rheumatoid Disease, a debilitating condition which travels through the blood and causes acute pain, swelling and stiffness, symmetrically in the joints throughout the body. This has affected my mobility massively and I am now bound to a wheelchair for the majority of the time. I am however determined to gradually build up my daily steps and my aim, with rests, is to walk 10,000 steps in one day before the winter sets in. I am aiming to take on the challenge sometime during the w/c 12th Oct (dependent on pain levels).
As a teacher myself I have been particularly touched by CITC's teacher sponsorship programme which sponsors female teachers to help address prevalent gender inequalities that exist in Nepal; CITC supports them by delivering high quality professional development including mentoring and training, helping to create inspirational role models and catalysts of change.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and well spent on the ground, helping to change outcomes for children in rural Nepal. Thank you, Jojo x
