Story
Tobi was referred to The Js Charity by Lauren Summers at Havens Hospices who The Js work closely with to ensure all young adults are given the chance to attend Js day and Js events.
Tobi is 20 and has a rare syndrome called West Syndrome. He uses a wheelchair and is visually impaired. He has a severe learning difficulty and has carers with him when he attends Js events.
Marie his mum reports she has no time for herself at all as she has a very busy demanding life and really appreciates coming to Js days as it is one of the few occasions she can sit down for a coffee and enjoy a piece of cake. She is often not able to stay as her life is so busy but when she does she values talking to Js volunteers especially as she feels they understand her.
Tobi loves the music therapy as he really enjoys touch and music and Marie his mum reports it is sensory and appropriate for Tobi. He also really benefits from complementary therapy. Marie has said that it is a shame we only meet monthly as Js days are one of the few days that Tobi really benefits from. Tobi also really enjoys Js away days as he loves being out in the community. Again Marie wishes they were more often.
Marie loves The Js Charity as does Tobi and only wishes we were able to offer more days and more days out as they both benefit hugely from them.
