June's Wish Charity

June’s Wish Charity is dedicated to granting meaningful final wishes for people at the end of their dementia journey.

June’s Wish Charity is dedicated to granting meaningful final wishes for people at the end of their dementia journey. Inspired by June, whose kindness and love continue to shape everything we do, June’s Wish exists to bring comfort, dignity and joy during one of life’s most difficult chapters. We believe that even as dementia progresses, moments of connection, recognition and peace still matter deeply and can make a lasting difference to wellbeing, reassurance and emotional comfort. We work closely with families, carers and professionals to create personalised wishes that reflect the individual’s life, values and loves. Wishes may be simple or significant, but each is designed to ease distress, reduce anxiety and create precious memories for everyone involved at a time that often feels overwhelming and uncertain. Alongside granting wishes, we provide emotional support to families who are navigating exhaustion, grief and isolation. Our approach is person-centred, compassionate and rooted in respect, kindness and dignity for both those living with dementia and the people who care for them every day. June’s Wish currently supports individuals and families in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, with plans to expand as funding allows. Every donation helps us reach more people, grant more wishes, and ensure that no one faces the end of their dementia journey without love, dignity, compassion and gentle moments of peace when they matter most.

Story

June’s Wish was created in honour of June Minter, a woman who faced Lewy body dementia with quiet courage and a heart full of love. In her final years, June was supported by her devoted husband of 60 years, Mick, and her daughters Jules and Sue—a family bound by joy, resilience and countless shared adventures.

As June’s dementia progressed, her world became smaller, but her spirit never dimmed. One of her final wishes was unexpectedly simple yet profoundly meaningful: she wanted to take one more flight. So Jules chartered a plan and for that hour in the sky, dementia loosened its hold. June lit up with awe and laughter—present, peaceful, herself again.

A short time later, with the support of Admiral Nurse Lucy, June’s final wish came true. She returned home, surrounded by the warmth of Christmas lights and the love of her family. She passed away peacefully on Valentine’s Day 2025, leaving behind a heartbroken family—but also a legacy of courage, joy and connection.

Sadly, Mick died of vascular dementia in August 2025 and joined his beloved June.
