1st Crieff Guides is a local charity which is part of Girlguiding. We build girls' confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. We give them a space to have fun.

Story

Our guides and rangers are so excited to be offering and planning an international trip to Kandersteg, Switzerland in July 2024 open to all Guides, Rangers, Young Leaders and Leaders from across our units and in 1st Dunkeld and Birnam Rangers.

Kandersteg International Scout Centre is located near Adelboden which is a special place for members of Girlguiding, as it is the home of one of the five world centres, Our Chalet, where members of Girl Guides and girls and women can come together for fun, friendship and adventure.

This adventure will enable 20 Guides, Rangers and Leaders from the Crieff and Dunkeld areas to expand their Girlguiding experience, learn more about international Guides, meet members from the UK and from across the world and of course, participate in new adventures and challenges. For 5 of the guides, it will be an extra special trip to undertake the final adventure and transition to Ranger's challenge for their Gold awards.

This trip will also offer a unique experience to many girls, for some it will be their first overnight Girlguiding trip, and for others their first time abroad. The trip will offer a range of experiences to the Guides and to the Leaders who are planning and supporting them. Activities we are planning range from a pinning ceremony at Our Chalet to white water rafting, taking in local scenery and culture and hiking in the mountains. It will develop the confidence of many Guides and teach them many important life skills, enabling them to gain some independence from their families and face new challenges.

As part of the adventure, all participants are coming together to fundraise to enable this opportunity to be available to as many members as possible. Fundraising will include a coffee morning, bingo, concert and quiz night and Christmas Fayre stall.
