A lack of access to adequate clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities means many Karen communities struggle with water borne diseases and water poverty. Many Karen villages do not have adequate toilets, meaning many people must eliminate waste in the forests. The lack of WASH facilities makes people vulnerable to sicknesses including diarrhoea, typhoid and parasitic worms as well as waste being harmful to the overall environment. This can have a short and longer term impact on the quality of life for the Karen, reducing life expectancy and harming the ability of the Karen to work and study. Latrines are vital for better management of personal and public health and are also vital for human dignity and safety
Help us build 20 latrines and provide hygiene education sessions for families living in a remote village in Mae Hong Son province.
