Our story

When Thomas was diagnosed, I felt completely lost. I didn’t really know what the future would look like and, at first, I didn’t want to face the real world.

Stepping Stones DS very quickly became my safe space. From the beginning, they gave us support, understanding and knowledge at a time when we really needed it. They helped me feel that everything was going to be okay and reminded me that, although our journey might look different from the one I had imagined, there was still so much happiness ahead.

Thomas has been part of Stepping Stones DS since he was tiny. As he has grown, we have been able to access different activities, support and opportunities that have helped with his development and given him the chance to learn, grow and have fun.

Having somewhere that truly understands Thomas and our family makes such a difference. The little milestones that might seem small to somebody else can mean absolutely everything to us, and the team at Stepping Stones DS are there to celebrate those moments alongside us.

For us, Stepping Stones DS has become much more than a charity or a service. It really is a family of families, a community where we feel understood, supported and where Thomas belongs.

Our journey may be different from the one I once imagined, but it is no less wonderful.

I will always be grateful to Stepping Stones DS for walking alongside our family and helping us see how much joy there is to be found along the way.

Why we are fundraising

We are raising money for Stepping Stones DS so they can continue supporting Thomas and other children and families like ours.

The support, activities and community they provide have made such a difference to our family, and we want to help make sure other families can benefit from that same support.
