Story
It was a difficult start to life for the twins as they were born premature, severely underweight and with physical and learning difficulties. Teddy as the second twin, has more severe physical and learning disabilities. She can walk alone but often loses balance and falls backwards. She needs support with her basic needs and to improve her cognitive, social and communication skills. She needs therapies and treatments with neurologist, endocrinologist, ophthalmologist, physiotherapist and speech therapist.
Anna's motor activity is also limited which reflects on her cognitive development and social functioning. She needs individual support and assistance from an adult in carrying out basic activities.
From October 2013 until now, the children are being treated at the therapeutic center in Varna. We pay for physiotherapy sessions, speech therapy, Montessori lessons, medical check-ups, social and psychological care for both Anna and Teddy and their family who cannot otherwise afford to have.
The cost of one month of therapy for Teddy is £340 (BGN 760) and covers:
- Twice a week Montessori Group sessions for Social Integration and Learning- 8 times a month;
- Twice a week individual rehabilitation therapy - 8 times a month;
- Once a week individual therapy with speech therapist - 4 times a month;
- Health care, social counselling and individual psychological counselling for the family;
Anna's one-month treatment costs £220 (BGN 480) and covers:
- Twice a week individual rehabilitation therapy - 8 times a month;
- Once a week individual therapy with speech therapist - 4 times a month;
- Health care, social counselling and individual psychological counselling for the family;
It is absolutely critical that they continue to have these therapies so can overcome the deficiencies. They were both not accepted in school this year and remained in a daycare centre for children with special needs.
Please help us raise the money we need to support them for a year!
